ONE LEG LONGER is an ongoing body of work that explores ideas around the act of studying myself as a body made up of DNA and understanding human condition as somebody with genetic mutation.
After having experienced a childhood where my body was looked at and studied by doctors due to the genetic condition that I have, Macrocephaly-Capillary Malformation, I have many questions as an adult on the human body and its condition. This work is the start of an attempt to come to an understanding of the physicality of the human body and a search to understand and educate myself with the genetic mutation that took place for me. I use the process of making the images as a tool to express my experience, research the condition and reconnect with the doctors that saw me through my diagnosis. I use the act of playing in my process to adopt an experimental approach and to visualise my experience.
Macrocephaly-capillary malformation is a rare genetic condition and is one that i have suffered with mildly compared to most that have it, i would love for this work to shed a light on those who live with genetic conditions and provoke people to question the complex nature of the human body.
